The Rich History Behind our First-Class Club

Denton Country Club was chartered in 1922 as a men’s golf Club, occupying approximately 125 acres in Denton County.  It was originally a 9-hole course comprised of sand greens.  The Club was open during the Great Depression.

In 1934, the Club was re-chartered and re-opened as the New Denton Country Club.  During World War II, the Club was closed again and the land was leased to area ranchers for cattle grazing.

In 1950, Denton Country Club reopened again as a sand layout.

In 1963, the clubhouse burned and a new one was built the following year.  An additional 90-acre tract was also purchased in 1963.

The club expanded to 18 holes in April of 1969.  Since then, the Club has added four tennis courts and a member’s swimming pool.

Denton Country Club members made a major commitment in 1986 and built a 20,000 square foot Clubhouse.  The Club made major improvements to the golf course with the addition of Bent Grass greens, 419 Bermuda fairways and another beautification.

DCC began major improvements including a complete remodel of the clubhouse restaurant and event space.

A new pond was constructed and added to the front 9 of the course, which has been named Korba's Pond.

Two additional member amenities were completed: a family swimming pool retreat and a top-of-the-line fitness center. DCC’s pool features a shallow splash area for lounging or playing, and a deep end with a diving board for endless hours of fun for older swimmers. The fitness center offers yoga and other classes in the group exercise room. Locker rooms are beautifully finished with steam showers, and there is a massage therapy area.

Construction was completed of a new men’s locker room and bar providing private food and beverage service with multiple TVs and card tables. The club also converted a portion of the outdoor patio into an indoor casual/family dining space with spectacular views of the golf course and pond.

The two front entries of the club were refaced with an updated stone appearance, and a beautiful gas fire pit was added to the clubhouse’s back patio overlooking the DCC pond. Construction was completed of a new women’s locker room and private lounge furnished with conversation seating, a TV, and tables for games or gatherings.  A new private dining and meeting space was completed. Additionally, the golf pro shop was expanded and renovated.

DCC began an exclusive chef’s table dining experience called The Veranda Experience to meet members’ growing interest for elevated fine dining and wine pairings.

A new state-of-the-art golf teaching facility was completed for year-round instruction. Work is currently underway to improve golf course grounds, cart paths and bunkers.

Celebrating Denton Country Club’s Centennial. DCC will celebrate 100 years of providing members a first-class experience as the most elite club in Denton County.
